Food Porn Surfing

Surfs up! Begin surfing food porn NOW!

Sometimes teasing is better than eating.

Go ahead admit it. You like porn. Food porn that is…

Honk If You Love Food Porn!
So do I! Many would call us obsessed or doomed to failure because our life with food appears out of balance.

But I say, “Pish, posh, piffle!”

Surfing food porn doesn’t mean anything of the sort. It means we take pleasure in food and that’s ok. I believe God says, “That’s ok!”

We all know our own bodies and have different coping mechanisms. One of my coping mechanisms to keep from “grazing” or eating at inappropriate times is to do food research (i.e. Food Porn Surfing). I want to know how to convert a recipe from high carb to low carb. I want to know the best spices to use. I want to learn a new technique. I want to figure out a problem I’ve encountered in a recipe.  So I surf. I surf food porn – I solve the problem. Easy peasy!

White Knuckle Dieting Only Goes So Far
The best part about surfing is that it takes my mind off the eating cues I may be experiencing and get’s me through the moment. It’s like a puzzle. I can’t abruptly stop food.

I need it for survival, so I can’t just cold turkey it like a drug. I’ve white knuckle dieted too many times in my life to know that white knuckles only have so much strength. Total avoidance of food and food related talk doesn’t help me. So I have to reason and puzzle my way - navigate - through the food mine field to find my own personal balance in relationship to food.

I learned the best way to navigate through the giant food puzzle is to embrace food. Continue to take pleasure from interacting with it. You simply have to set boundaries for yourself and identify any triggers and establish what does and doesn’t work for you (determine a list of personal “best practices”). You redefine your relationship and create new ways of interaction.

Consume With Your Eyes and Brain, Not Your Mouth!
Food Porn Surfing allows me to have a hit or food fix and instead of consuming it with my mouth, I consume it with my mind. Heck, if it could work for Jimmy Carter (He lusted in his mind, remember?), then I figure it can work for me. And it does!

Happy Food Porn Surfing! Surfs up!

These are recently prepared low carb meals and dishes. They may or may not be coming soon to a featured blog post near you! Haha! You may be tempted to call this my “Ode To Brown Food” and you may be mostly right. I adore brown food. But alas, brown food does not adore me in return. It is full of carcinogens. Wahhhh. I simply must figure out a way to cut down on brown.

Bigger Wahhhhh. I think we need a Wahhhhhm-bulance over here…

SusieT’s Notes:
I hope these pictures inspire you to think creatively about your menus. Even when you are doing a two week induction period where you keep your net carbs very low, there is room for creativity and eating outside the box!

I promise, if your taste buds are happy, everybody’s happy! It will make it easier to stick to your diet or your way of life/eating as it applies to you!

I hear you askin' why I have two lamb dishes posted...Well, when warm weather hits, I love how light lamb tastes compared to heavier meats like beef. Also, most of the lamb produced in the U.S. is produced without a bunch of hormones or grain. They are mostly grass fed. And that goes double for lamb meat imported from New Zealand.

I got two terrific sales on both kinds of chops so they made it into our menu and gave a lovely break from traditional beef, pork and chicken!

Blessings to each of you my friends.

I will be back soon with a full recipe post!

And yes, I might just be back with a dessert for all you folks jonesing for the crystal white stuff...
